The cultural centre
Visitors to the island will find an array of natural wonders as well as interesting cultural sights. An example of this is the island’s towns, many of which are several hundred years old, with winding alleys and ancient churches. Another example is the intense cultural life here.
The cultural centre in the renovated castle for example, contains a valuable collection of prehistoric archaeological artefacts from the Neolithic site of Vela Spilja located nearby and from the Roman sites in the neighbouring towns as well as a collection of modern art including paintings, drawings and sculptures by local and international artists.
In Anka Prizmic-Sega’s private gallery, you can find sculptures and paintings by the artist, who was born in Vela Luka. The art and culture association Hum fosters music and folklore as well as choral singing.
There are also many singing groups in Vela Luka that perform successful concerts all over Croatia and abroad.
